Dear Friends and Supporters,
I want to let you know in advance about an exciting change for Maine Cancer Foundation, one we hope to announce formally on January 1st, 2016.
For several years now, Maine Cancer Foundation has worked closely with The Maine Cancer Consortium, a coalition of over 100 Maine-based healthcare organizations who are responsible for creating the Maine Cancer Control Plan, a document used to guide our state in the fight against cancer.
Maine Cancer Foundation is pleased to issue a Request for Proposals to Maine-based organizations able to make meaningful impact on our lung cancer rates through reductions in tobacco use and other nicotine delivery systems. The Foundation will issue up to $400,000 to support one-year proposals, although multi-year programs will be considered for initiatives that require longer timelines to demonstrate progress.

I’ve noticed that as the days grow shorter and first hints of color show in the trees, people in Maine start planning.
For some, this means mapping out the school year for their kids, or stacking that pile of firewood. For others, it’s time to close up a seasonal business, tally the books and start thinking hard about how to make it through the winter. A budget is a necessary part of life in our state.
Today we need to send out a very special thank you to a young man from Waterboro who deserves some praise.
Last week we received a generous donation from Ty Boissonneault on his Birthday and... well, let's ask his Mom about it:
Our sincere thanks to Allagash Brewing Company and the wonderful staff working in the Tasting Room. These great folks have been saving their tip money and chipped in with a generous donation of $1,000 to help support the fight against cancer here in Maine.
